Cats are obligate carnivores. They require more protein and essential amino acids than do dogs. Starch is an energy source for dogs. What is the role of starch in a dog's diet?

Taurine is technically not an essential amino acid for dogs, some lines in certain dog breeds may need more touring. Dog foods that supplement with taurine could potentially do some good for certain dogs.
